Sapanca is about an hour's drive from Istanbul, which makes it one of the busiest weekend camping areas in Türkiye. The sites around the lake are at their best in spring and autumn.
Humidity in the region is high. A double-wall tent makes a noticeable difference here over a single-wall one: no condensation on the inner surface by morning.

Lake Sapanca is calm water for kayaking and paddleboarding; it takes far less wind than the sea and suits first-timers.
On campervan routes the region is the first stop heading east out of Istanbul. Campsite infrastructure is developed, and because sites fill at weekends, booking ahead is necessary.
